By using Tala, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have regarding your data.We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available, and the effective date will be updated accordingly.
We collect limited information necessary to operate and improve the Service. Information falls into two categories: information you provide and information collected automatically.
Email address (optional, only if you opt in to email updates)
Anonymous account identifier: We use anonymous authentication to save your data. No user-facing login is required.
Optional profile details (such as preferences or settings)
Reading session data or notes you voluntarily enter
Communications with support or feedback submissions
Payment information for subscriptions or in-app purchases is processed by the App Store or Google Play. Tala does not store credit card or payment details.
Device information (device type, OS version, app version)
Anonymous identifiers (such as Firebase installation IDs)
Usage data (session duration, features used, app interactions)
IP address and general location data (country/region level)
Performance and diagnostic data
Push notification token (FCM/APNs): if you enable push notifications, we collect a device push token to deliver notifications.
This information is collected through tools such as Firebase and Cloudflare to ensure app stability and performance.

Track reading sessions and app usage
Improve app functionality and performance
Send service-related notifications (such as reminders or updates)

We may share limited information with trusted service providers that help us operate Tala, including:
Firebase (Google LLC) – authentication, analytics, secure data storage, and crash/performance diagnostics.
Cloudflare, Inc. – content delivery, performance, and security
Apple Inc. / Google LLC – subscription billing and account management
BeeHiiv – if you opt in to email updates, we share your email address with BeeHiiv to manage our mailing list and send emails.
Google Books API (Google LLC) - book search queries and book metadata retrieval.
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and contractual obligations. Tala does not allow third parties to sell or misuse your data.
If you use Tala’s website, cookies or similar technologies may be used to support functionality and analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work properly.The mobile app itself does not use browser cookies.
Tala is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information has been collected inadvertently, we will promptly delete it.Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information may contact us at [email protected].
Your information is stored securely using industry-standard protections, including encryption and access controls.We retain personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you request account deletion, your personal data will be permanently deleted from our systems within a reasonable timeframe.
